Californian Sea Lions (Zalophus californianus)
There is a couple of Californian sea lions living together with the dolphins; the Californian sea lions were brought to Klaipėda from Duisburg Zoo, Germany. Their offspring, the female Basta, participates in the shows successfully.
 
Californian sea lions belong to the class of mammals, the order of pinnipeds, the suborder of eared seals.
A baby Californian sea lion weighs about 6–9 kilograms.
 
Adult males can weigh about 400 kg.
Females weigh by far less, ca 110 kilograms.
 
They can reach a length of nearly 2 meters.
Their population numbers ca 200,000 individuals.
 
They feed on cephalopod molluscs, small sharks, mackerel, herring and other kinds of fish.
Their main enemies are white sharks and humpback whales.
